Scientist - Head of Analytical DevelopmentLead a group working across a broad range of analytical techniquesBIND Biosciences, co-founded by Dr. Robert Langer of MIT and Dr. Omid Farokhzad of Harvard Medical School, is a biopharmaceutical company leveraging its proprietary Medicinal Nanoengineering™ platform to design, engineer and manufacture highly precise best-in-class targeted therapeutics for treating serious diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases. We are looking for highly motivated people who thrive on being challenged and working in a highly collaborative environment to join the team and play a key role in conducting rigorous, cutting edge science. We seek a motivated and team-oriented individual who will be a key contributor to the overall success of BIND’s Analytical Development program. The Analytical Development group supports development, manufacturing and stability testing of novel best-in-class therapeutic agents based on BIND’s unique targeted nanoparticle technology. Our new Head of Analytical Development will take a leadership role in defining and developing analytical methods to characterize targeted nanoparticle formulations. • Lead BIND’s analytical development group, which provides analytical support for formulation and process development, and method development for lot release and stability testing of materials produced for regulated toxicity and clinical trials. • Manage analytical activities outsourced to contract analytical laboratories. Review, compile and document results. • Effectively work in a cross-functional environment with Formulation Development, Biology, Process Development and Quality Assurance groups. • Organize, evaluate, and present data in an effective and scientific manner. The ideal candidate holds an MS or PhD in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field and 8-10 years of relevant industry experience in Analytical Development plus the following: • Solid technical background in analytical chemistry techniques, including HPLC and SEC, LC-MS, gas chromatography, thermal analysis, surface characterization, Karl Fischer, microscopy and others. • Track record in method development and phase-appropriate method validation in support of pharmaceutical product development and cGMP manufacturing. • At least 3 years of management with a hands-on and mentoring style. • Experience managing contract laboratories in a fast paced environment. • High energy, open minded, strong communicators who are looking for a collaborative, innovative and fun environment.
