BIND Biosciences is a biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutic targeted nanoparticles capable of profoundly improving patients' lives by concentrating drugs in the target tissue while minimizing systemic exposure. Our technology platform provides us with the unique ability to produce precise and reproducible nanoparticles optimized for their specific therapeutic application.

A targeted nanoparticle must possess the optimal biophysicochemical properties in order to preferentially accumulate in the target tissue, avoid being cleared by the immune system, and deliver the desired drug release profile. By leveraging fifteen years of innovations in the fields of polymeric biomaterials, nanoparticle engineering and combinatorial synthesis, BIND has developed proprietary enabling technologies that allow us to narrowly define the key characteristics necessary for a maximally effective nanoparticle. Using our platform, BIND is able to:

  • Engineer nanoparticle libraries with distinct biophysicochemical properties
  • Iteratively select and optimize nanoparticles for each application
  • Scale-up and manufacture optimized targeted nanoparticles

BIND has assembled a world-class team of founders, management, advisors and investors positioning it as the leader in the emerging field of nanotherapeutics. The company's scientific founders, Professors Robert Langer and Omid Farokhzad are leaders in the fields of drug delivery and nanotechnology with a strong track record of innovation and technology commercialization. BIND's management team is drawn from successful companies both in polymeric drug delivery technologies and product platforms including AIR, Alkermes, Momenta, Acceleron and Millennium.

BIND is generating a robust product pipeline in multiple therapeutic areas, initially focusing our development efforts on cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Our lead program is expected to enter the clinic by 2009. BIND’s product-platform business strategy focuses on developing and commercializing a proprietary internal pipeline based on approved drugs, while leveraging strategic partnerships to apply this platform to a broader set of agents and indications.

BIND Biosciences, Inc. was founded in 2006 to develop therapeutic targeted nanoparticles based on a large patent estate licensed exclusively from MIT and Harvard. Our investors, ARCH Venture Partners, Flagship Ventures, NanoDimension AG and Polaris Venture Partners, have an outstanding investment track record, deep knowledge of our technology space, and know what it takes to build successful product platform companies.
